Today we have had a great day here is another great blog for you all,

And this week’s learner of the week is Toby for his massive improvement in handwriting so well done for him.

Today we have been starting our big write and we have been producing brilliant writing and there are some pen passes on the line.

Our topic is POLE TO POLE and it is all about the north and south pole. We have got of to a brilliant start and have produced some fabulous work so far.

We just did a big write on the Arctic we started at 11:00 and have done about half a page on average and the quality is excellent. Here is a bit of Alex’s. As the orange sun rose from the ice blue sky, it cast a warm shadow over the landscape. <--- Good, we know! In P.E we have done basketball and some matches. Also, we have been creating our own warm ups. By the bloggers, Alex and Cian special thanks to Toby 🙂 😉 __________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks Bloggers, We have had another jam packed and crazy week. What a way to start the new term. We started off with our homework debate, we prepared great arguments for and against having homework. We looked at our value of democracy and had a fantastic debate allowing everyone to have their say. IMG_0519

On Monday we also tuned in to BBC for their “live lesson.” It was fantastic, we learnt so much about writing narrative which fit so well into our IPEELL lessons this week. We have decided to enter the competition “500 words.” From hearing what the children have produced so far, it is going to be fantastic.

We have been continuing our work on longitude and latitude in our “Pole to Pole.” We have discussed the difference between countries and continents and located them on a map.

In R.E. we have continued our work on Islam and have been doing some drama. We looked at what it means to be good and lead a good life. We have looked at Luqmaans advice to his son and created liquid pictures to recreate this. The children were so creative and came up with so many fantastic ideas.

We have also discussed what it means to be a good learner this week. We have been watching the videos on class dojo on “perseverance” and talked about Katie being in “the dip.” We created documents on the chrome books about our learning line and what it means to us.

Maths no problem also got even trickier this week as we were multiplying 2 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers. We worked out many different methods to find one that suits us. We got there in the end!

Many thanks,

Miss Murphy

Values newsletter

Dear parents and carers,

Did you know that every two weeks a parents Values newsletter is added to the school’s website to help keep you informed about the values that we are doing in school? The values come from the “fruits of spirit” in the Bible (Galatians 5:22-23) and also from the Fundamental British Values that schools are required to promote. We hope you enjoy reading these newsletters together as a family and make time to have a family discussion about these to compliment the children’s learning in school.

Friday 13th January 2017

Good morning/afternoon everyone how are you doing today? Here is the 15th or 16th blog for you enjoy 🙂

First on Monday In IPEELL , we did something like target time where you need to look at picture of the Arctic and create a description of it, it was brilliant. This week we have been learning about Pole to Pole. It’s very interesting and exciting. So,SO EXCITING! In P.E. we did gymnastics with Miss Murphy and Miss Wright. We enjoyed it very much and our group performed and had chance to improve. We experimented with different levels and balances. On Friday, we did music. But this week, something unexpected happened. Ben’s thumb oozed with a blister! Too much hard work on that Ukulele. Get better soon, Ben!

Megan said her highlight of the week was, “learning maths because I enjoy maths.”
Rose said her highlight of the week was, “Improving the speed of my writing, I got much more done in the lessons.”
Domantas said his highlight of the week was, “Starting Mr Kay’s writing club.”

Thank you for reading!
Have a good week,

By 5LM.

Thanks to the bloggers and the other class members who helped with this weeks blog!

We started this week of with looking at our value thankfulness. We thought about the things in our life that we are thankful for and had some fantastic discussion. We created a collage of those things as a class. We also finished off our pilgrimages topic in R.E. and starting our new topic.

In IPEELL we have been planning our story based on out topic. We looked at a dozen ways to open a story and also looked at character. The children were so creative, I can’t wait to read their stories!

In maths we have moved on to looking at multiplying 2,3 and 4 digit numbers. We have explored the different methods that we can use to help us. The children have been amazing at working together and being kind and helpful to their peers.

In PE we have continued with our gymnastics. I have loved watching the stories they have created through movement and balance. It’s a fantastic unit that the children clearly enjoy.

We have started some geography as part of our topic “Pole to Pole.” We have looked at longitude and latitude and learnt a song to help us remember!
We have been looking at our British values and discussing current affairs. We watch news round and debate on the topics. This week we have been looking at the great homework debate! We have been collating ideas for a debate in class on Monday.

Thank you for you continued support,

Miss Murphy

In maths we have been doing square and cube numbers and Miss Murphy was impressed with Aleah for her effort.

In PE we have been starting gymnastics and Miss Wright was impressed with Malakhi’s group who was Malakhi, Toby, Cian and Subhaan.
Learner of the week is Laibaah for doing lexia over the holidays so well done there.

In music we are starting to play the ukulele so I hope we do well in music today.

From Alex and Cian THE BLOGGERS!!

Thank you bloggers again!

Welcome back everyone and a big Happy New Year! What a start we have had, it is great for the children to come back with such a fantastic attitude towards learning. I was so impressed with Laaibah for hitting all of her Lexia targets at home over the holidays, we are so lucky to have Lexia and it helps the children so much with reading.

We have started looking at our new Topic which is Pole to Pole. We came up with enquiry questions about what they want to learn over our Topic. We are all so excited to learn as we all agree that the Arctic is amazing!

Our value for the week is Thankfulness. So think, what are you thankful for?

I popped my head into P.E. this week and was so impressed with what I saw. The children have started learning gymnastics and their creativity was fantastic (see pictures).

And finally, music! We love our Friday music lessons with Mr Mercer. It has now got even more exciting as we are learning to play the Ukulele! We have started by learning the C chord and learning songs to help us remember all of the parts.

Have a great weekend!

See you next week,

Miss Murphy

Friday 9th December

Friday 9th December 2016

This week we have been doing some extremely hard work.

In IPEELL we have been planning and writing a recount on the donkey’s journey and it went pretty well for everyone. I bet Miss Murphy is going to be proud of us all.

Learner of the week is ……………ALEX for his presentation on his prayer so well done!

In maths no problem we have been doing multiples and factors. A factor is a number or quantity that when multiplied with another produces a given number or expression.

A multiple is a number that can be divided by another number without a remainder.

We have  completed firework by Katy Perry  in music with Mr Mercer. I wonder what we will be doing next?

In PE we had a cycle of handball, netball and football and it was one of our best P.Es in ages!

 Thank you yet again boys!

First of all, our class assembly was fantastic on Wednesday. Thank you to those who came and supported the children. It was a great celebration of our learning! Here is the video we created to celebrate our Macbeth journey!

This week we have focused on the story of Advent. We looked at the story from the perspective of the donkey and written a recount of their journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in IPEELL. I can’t wait to read them!

In Maths, we discussed Prime numbers using our previous knowledge of factors and multiples to help. The children were great at this and are developing their confidence in Mathmatical vocabulary. Keep practising those times tables!

Taiya said her highlight of the week was, “being given the chance to write and re draft work to make it better and see my improvement!”

Malakhi said his highlight of the week was, “performing our class assembly because it was exciting and gave me a buzz!”

Domantas said his highlight of the week was, “Practising singing because it is fun and makes me excited for Christmas!”

Miss Murphy

Tis the season for the blog falalalalalalala!

This week was the start of  DECEMBER!! And we have done all sorts for advent hope you have enjoyed your chocolate.

We have had brilliant learning and in IPEELL, Miss Murphy has been very pleased with Amir, because of his resilience.

And the learner of the week is … Aleah for improving in her confidence massively! 😀

In “Maths, no problem!”, we have all been learning about factors (numbers that divide by other numbers to give a whole number.)

On Wednesday, in PE we did orienteering because the muga was slippery so basically what it is, is you get into teams of 2 and you have 5 cones and you hide them and mark on a map and you find them.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS from the bloggers 😀

Thank you again for the blog.

Apologies for the lack of blogging. There has been some technical issues. We are now back to our weekly blog!

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday!

Another fantastic week in 5LM and we have been starting our Advent learning. We started off the week with quite a few children missing for cross country, Miss Wright has given me fantastic feedback about the children who went. Well done to them! We spent our Afternoon making an Advent wreath with Christmas messages and prayers on for us to read on each day of Advent. They produced a lovely wreath with some beautiful writing.

This week in Maths No Problem we have moved onto looking at Multiples and Factors. After a confusing start, we have really grasped it! I am so impressed with the resilience in the class, the children have kept trying and trying until they had mastered the idea. Keep practising those times tables though, then it will be much easier!

In IPEELL we have been working on our recount, using ISPACE to write exciting sentence openers. See if the children can tell you what that stands for?

This week in P.E. we sharpened up our map skills and did some orienteering. Zain and Alex particularly impressed us with their fantastic skills following a map to find another groups hidden cones.

Finally, in topic, we have been learning all about being a Hoplite in Ancient Greece. We went outside to practise going to battle in formation.IMG_0362[1]

Pay As You Feel Cafe.

image image image image image image

Our 2nd ‘pay as you feel’ cafe was to raise money for Children in Need. We served pasta and mini pizzas, to a diverse and hungry clientele, followed by Sham’s Tiger cake and biscuits. It was a little chaotic but thanks go to everyone who stepped in to help out!

We raised £41.95 for Children in Need!!!

Friday 11th November

This week has been a very hectic and busy. Our classroom has changed and the best thing is that we got (drum roll) 24 MINUTES Golden time.YAY!!! We’ve only lost 1 minute! We loved the snow, it was amazing and EVERYONE loved it.

Learner of the  week is Jak! For his all round improvement.

We were sent a letter from Ananias (a greek lord)and we were completely amazed. Ananias was a Greek person who were sent on a mission to spread the message about the Greeks.

We should remember those who died to make the world a better place for us so we had a 2 minutes silence for them.

By Zain,Alex,and Ayush

Thanks boys!

Make sure you check out the ACE arts blog! There are some amazing photographs from the performance last Tuesday.

It has been a chilly week but we have been working extremely hard. We have explored methods of addition in Maths No Problem and writing fantastic instructions in IPEELL. We have planned our experiment for next week in science, we can’t wait to get started on our electrical circuits. Hear all about it next week.

4th November 2016

A new week and new learning opportunities for everyone!

This week started with it being hectic. We performed Macbeth and we did very well. We actually stole the show with Macbeth and Lady Macbeth learning all of their lines (and everyone else too). It was an amazing experience to have performed their. Literally i really wanted that day to be everyday. We did a tech rehearsal, a dress rehearsal and the proper live performance.

Stars of the week  are….everyone! Everyone was star of the week because of our great perseverance and for our absolutely great performances. The other schools did romeo & juliet and Midsummer nights dream. They were all great, we were the youngest there!!

It was the best day ever!

Another fantastic blog, thanks to Alex and Zain this week!

I am immensely proud of everyone for their performance on Tuesday, it was a fantastic celebration of our learning!

Now back to the hard work in class and we are starting on our new topic, Greeks! I am sure we will have just as much fun.

See you next week!IMG_0201
